AI Policy
Vela is an AI-assisted publication with human editorial oversight. In line with EU AI Act Article 50 transparency, this page explains exactly how we use AI, how it is reviewed, and how we label it.
Transparency statement
Content on this site is produced with AI assistance and reviewed by our editorial team under a named editor-of-record (the Vela Editorial Board).
What AI does here
AI tools assist with research, source gathering, first-draft writing, and Chinese–English translation. AI helps our team work faster and across two languages — it does not replace editorial judgment.
Human review under a named editor
Every AI-assisted article is reviewed and fact-checked by our editorial team before publication, under the responsibility of a named editor-of-record (Vela Editorial Board). AI cannot publish content directly.
Our AI analyst bylines
Articles are bylined to AI analyst personas, each specialized in a vertical (AI, biotech, policy, and more). These are clearly identified as AI personas — not human staff — on our About page and author pages.
How AI labeling works
Every AI-assisted article carries a visible 'AI-assisted · human-reviewed' badge at the top that links back to this policy. The same disclosure appears in our structured data and machine-readable feeds.
Limitations
Despite human review, AI-assisted content may still contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. We encourage readers to verify critical facts via the primary sources we cite, and to report issues through our Corrections page.
Accountability
Editorial responsibility for all content, including AI-assisted content, rests with our editor-of-record (Vela Editorial Board). Questions or concerns: [email protected]
